A Small World • by Sue Bleiweiss
The Internet makes the world a very small place. The life of an artist is a somewhat solitary one and the Internet gives us a forum to share our artwork, successes, and challenges of being an artist. It’s given me the opportunity to connect and work with some incredibly gifted artists over the years, and for that I’m very grateful. In December of 2010, I asked 15 other artists to join me in what would become “The Sketchbook Challenge” (sketchbookchallenge.com). Each month we choose a theme and then work through ideas inspired by the theme in our sketchbook. We post photos of our sketchbook pages and talk about the intention and inspiration behind them. Along the way we share tips, techniques, and tutorials. We hope that by sharing what’s inside our sketchbooks and showing how different they all are that we’ll inspire others to start keeping a sketchbook of their own. You can hear me talk more about the challenge and how it got started in a podcast interview with Rice Freeman-Zachery at sketchbookchallenge.blogspot.com/p/how-challenge-works.html.To learn more about Sue Bleiweiss, visit suebleiwess.com.
