DON'T LET WHAT YOU CAN'T DO GET IN THE WAY OF WHAT YOU CAN DO

Q: When did you start playing the cello?
A: Since 5th grade. (So about 30 years.)

Q: Is there anything you can't do?
A: Parallel park, play sports, dance, cook well, draw, decorate/style large spaces (like rooms and houses), fix mechanical things, understand financial statements ... and SO much more.

But as one of my all-time favorite adages goes: Don't let what you CAN'T do get in the way of what you CAN do. Because if you dwell on the fact that you CAN'T do this, you might not discover that you CAN do that. And what a huge loss that would be for you and those around you ...

Oh and it's what you CAN do that is so very wonderful Jenny!!!! Your talents inspire us to create and reach what we thought we couldn't!!! I love the shot of you smiling with your cello...xxoo, Dawn

Hi Jenny, another lovely thought on your blog. I have to ask - what were you playing in that top photo? (My hopeful guess is Faure's Elegie!)
Rachel.

I completely agree ! Wish I could hear you play...
greetings
Inge

I agree totally. I have this pinned to my wall: "Use your imagination not to scare you to death but to inspire yourself to life," (Adele Brookman) It's related to what you wrote.

I love the top photo of you -- it's absolutely beautiful. I'm a pianist myself, but your instrument is infinely more portable.

Lovely pictures from a special afternoon...wish there was an audio feature! Love the inspirational quotes and the optimistic words of wisdom so often found on this great blog. PS Michelle did an (as always) outstanding job with the design work on your banner...love it!

lovely photos!

blessings,

Wise words... I needed to hear this today! thank you for sharing ;)

beautiful photos~

Jenny: We haven't met in person, but I hope we will someday. Was grateful to see your post about playing the cello; I am struggling with time constraints in my life right now and despairing of finding the time to sit at my piano and stumble through a few pieces and dawdle over the ones I know. It warmed my heart just to see you with your instrument, knowing that you are so busy with everything you do and still make time in your life for your music. I am armed against the devils of "do-too-much" now and will spend some time at the keyboard tomorrow in the morning while it is still cool. Thank you, Nancy

Just another Sommerset fan who really enjoys reading your blog!!! Lovely photos!
I'm an artist but for the life of me can't play an instrument!

Jenny,
Love that quote- I shall post that big and large in my studio somewhere!
xoxo

Jenny, this is beyond perfect. It's been a subject on my mind for some weeks, now. We are all so multi-talented, and we downplay the ways we have become skilled. Thanks.
