Duets :: With Mindy Lacefield :: SHE WILL Free Motion Quilting Tutorial

You may remember my first duet with Mindy Lacefield here. Here's how the second duet turned out.

IMG_3249
I started with Mindy's screened bird images ...

IMG_3242 I cut one out and then played around with fabrics and cheesecloth to lay out a basic composition.

IMG_3240 Then I free motion quilted the outline of the bird with black thread and then the beak and a few other accents in red thread.

IMG_3243Did some more free motion quilting ...

IMG_3245 And then added ledger paper as the quilt "binding" for two of the edges.

Happy free motion quilting.

More duets to come. :)

This is so darling! The colors are so soft it pulls you right into it. Jenny, do you ever scan your music or ledger paper onto fabric with Photofabric? I use the silk one and love it. My favorite part about yours is that you always add stitched words! Love them all!
Candylei
