Street Team Crusade #45 :: Part 1
So Michelle Ward's latest Street Team Crusade #45 challenges us to make color copies of existing background journal pages and use those copies to make them evolve into different variations. I've become rather enamored with this process. Still a ways to go but here's where I'm at so far. I started by using my favorite stencil by Mary Beth Shaw and using the scrape method from Crusade #44 on vintage sheet music.
And then I made color copies ...
And then I layered a piece of translucent paper onto the color copy.
Then I went to my machine and lowered my feed dogs and free motion stitched.
Next, I added graphite pencil work, white gesso, white Perle cotton, a strip of black masking tape, and a word from the dictionary: invent. Great word.
Next up ... background page made on sheet music with circles of yellow paint, with some strokes of white gesso.
To the color copy, all I added was graphite pencil work and then a bit of collage work with cut up brown lunch bags and some stamping.
So the official Crusade #45 is to make back-to-back variations on the color copied pages. I still have a ways to go to make variations of each of these background pages so it's back to work to complete the back-to-backs. I'll post the variations as soon as they get completed. I agree with Michelle's observation that color copies of original journal pages cause us to make them evolve in new and different ways. So fun. Thanks, Michelle.

Love what you did-very 'Jenny'! I haven't had time to play with Michelle in many months, but had to join in on this one. She's so inspiring!

Wow Jenny - I love your pages. They seem very calm and peaceful :)
Both pages look so different - guess that was the challenge for this crusade. The stenciled one is my favourite - stunning.

Very interesting with all the layers you added. The stitching intrigues me & I may have to try that.
