Live to Love :: Water.org
You may remember from this post, some thoughts I shared about water. Anyone who has experienced life in developing nations can testify to the fact that water isn't readily available for everyone. Can you imagine that? Can you imagine waking up and having to walk for miles to retrieve water (often from a dirty and limited source) and then walking those miles back home, lugging the heavy water either on your back or your head?
This is the reality for people all over the world ... like Bangladesh, Ethiopia, Ghana, Haiti, Honduras, India, Kenya, Uganda, and more. You may remember Nic and Maurine visiting with me recently. Dear friends who are serving the people of Guatemala ... who know firsthand the challenges of helping people of developing nations find solutions to water access. They witness how much time people's lives are wasted - particularly the women - who spend most of their waking hours walking to retrieve water and carrying it back. Every single day.
I am proud to announce that starting in 2011, all proceeds that we raise from our ART SAVES merchandise will be directed to an organization that is at the forefront in raising awareness, and partnering with the people of the neediest nations to find solutions for water access: water.org. I hope you'll check out their site and learn about the wonderful work that they are doing. We are excited to also announce that Rebecca Sower has developed a brand new sheet or rubber stamps for CRESCENDOh, titled Live to Love. Rebecca has also seen firsthand, through her inspiring work with Haiti by Hand, the importance of water. All proceeds from Live to Love will also be directed to water.org.
Thank you for allowing us to discuss the topic of water ... today and throughout the days to come. As we do so, let us be grateful for the water that we have access to every single day. And let this gratitude lead to increased compassion, generosity, and love. Let us live to love.
Happy 2011.
