Bento Love :: Arugula
Today, I'm stepping out of my bento to enjoy a salad-to-go from Zpizza ... the place I go to for my very favorite salad: their baby arugula salad with caramalized onions and walnuts. Yummy.
Arugula. From the mustard family. Spicy. Bitter. Peppery. Mustardy.
Heavenly.

Oh YUM!! I see why this is a fave. Enjoy!

Ahhh... I just love arugula (or Rocket as the Brits call it!) - my mother used to grow it along the edge of the brook by her home. When I was pregnant I craved it and was convinced it was what Rapunzel's mother craved from the witch's garden next door.... but those were ramps or rampion, more like a small leek or scallion. The other herb I can't get enough of is cilantro - great when mixed with arugula! (and goat cheese, dried cranberries and walnuts or pecans - preferably candied!)
BTW - I'm sure you've seen it but I recently discovered this wonderful fabric: Far, Far Away by Heather Ross: http://heatherross.squarespace.com/journal/2010/4/22/introducing-far-far-away-ii.html
I used a bit for my recent "In One Palette" article Christen asked me to do. I first discovered Heather's work on Spoonflower.com where you can have your own designs printed onto fabric by the yard. It's pricey, but I'm hoping to do a line loosely based on my father's mid century modern designs and approach the "retro boutique" market with a few simple home decor items such as pillows, table linens, etc.
Still looking for my niche Jenny! Today's my 52nd birthday and it's about time I create a career!
Hope you're well... Happy Valentine's Day. I imagine you have some lovely plans for the evening (and wonder what shoes you will wear! ;-)
