Strategic Free Motion Stitching Tutorial DIY :: The Love We Make
So my obsession with free motion stitching continues. One of the great things about free motion stitching is that the gratification is pretty much instant. Like this piece that I recently created.
I started by cutting off the bottom portion of a brown paper bag, opening up the remainer and then cutting the sides open.
Then on one layer, I did some strategic free motion stitching. By strategic, I mean that I strategically stitched the words in a way that would allow me to cause the final piece to become heart-shaped.
And then I trimmed. (In terms of trimming, you're either a trim-as-you-go type of sewer or a trim-at-the-end type of sewer. I'm typcially the latter.)
Once the words were done, stitched a heart around the words with black thread and left an opening through which I stuffed some polyfil.
Then I sewed everything shut.
Next, I used needle and thread to stitch down a few buttons.
And finally, I used thread to attach the heart to a colored pencil.
So fun.
And it's true, don't you think? The love we make is equal to the love we take. In other words, you reap what you sow.
Love,
Jenny

I love this project and saying Jenny!
