Art Journal Collaboration with Belinda Fireman
What a great visit I had with Belinda Fireman yesterday ... a wonderful artist with whom I've been working on a super cool project that will be released later in 2012.
She was here all the way from Canada taking an intuitive painting class from Michele Cassou ... and so we decided take the opportunity of her being in southern Califofornia to meet up for brunch. After we ate, Belinda suggested that we make some art together and so right there in the restaurant, she took out one of her journal pages ane we filled it together. She worked from one end, and I worked from the opposite end, and then periodically, we rotated the page one or two turns, allowing us to react to what the other person had done.
Before you knew it, the page was filled. It was so fun and I learned so much.
After the food and art-making, we headed over to Dick Blick. I allowed myself to indulge in some paints and papers and pens that I've been wanting. So fun.
I sort of can't wait to try the collaborative journaling work with my son, Andrew. I'll tell you how that goes. As for Belinda, I'll be seeing her again in April at The Makerie, where she'll be there taking workshops and I'll be there teaching workshops. Maybe we'll both see you there!
Speaking of The Makerie, there's a great opportunity that has emerged for you to nominate anyone (including yourself) for a chance to win a full scholarship to attend The Makerie 2012. The details are here.

This looks like great fun! My daughter and I enjoy doing collaborative doodles, taking turns adding stuff. I love how cozy and fun it is to work together, and how differently the pages turn out vs. working independently. We usually wind up drawing just before bedtime (a great ploy to stay up later).
