We Came. We Ruined. We Rescued.
Last week, Studio CRESCENDOh had the pleasure of hosting Julie Balzer for her
Ruin & Rescue Art Journaling class.
It didn't take long for the group to become fast friends. :)
The first part of the day was all about getting color onto our pages ...
even if it meant that the pages looked "ruined" and full of "mistakes."
There were loads of amazing demos that Julie led for a captive audience.
... and in between demos, the artists made beautiful works.
After lunch, it was all about rescuing our ruined pages with effective methods ...
Throughout the day, we enjoyed goodies from our sponsors: Interweave/Cloth Paper Scissors . . .
... and Sakura of America—makers of Koi watercolors.
Toward the end of the day, Julie did giveaways of Interweave's newest magazine
about art journaling titled Cloth Paper Scissors Pages ...and Koi watercolors by Sakura of America, which Julie loves.
I think the reason we all had such a great time is because Julie teaches the most important thing of all ... which is to be true to who you are.
Julie is also VERY funny and smart. And I'm excited to announce that she'll be returning to teach in Studio CRESCENDOh in February 2013, right after next year's CHA. So watch for the announcement.
Julie is also in a new book that I have authored, to be released in 2013 ... where she joins a cohort of amazing visual journalers to share the whys and the hows of it all. More to come on that later.
ALSO ... there have been several people who have written me to ask if the studio could host a regular group ... kind of like The Painting Studio, where people could art journal together. And the answer to that question is ... Yes! We will be creating a new art group called The Art Journaling Studio ... where we meet once a month to get inspired by a new prompt and/or product as we make progress on our journals. More details on that new group to come. So stay tuned. :)
Stay up-to-date on all things Studio CRESCENDOh right here, on our master calendar.
See you in the studio. :)
