Beauty of Impermanence
Since this last post, I've been thinking more about the quest for permanence that we humans seek ... in art, relationships ... in all of life, really.
As we spray sealants, name buildings, make promises ... all in the quest to make things become forever. Permanent.
But I'm reminded that nothing is forever. On my soapbox, I've declared many-a-times that everything has a beginning, middle, and end. Everything. Beginnings are thrilling, middles are hard, and endings inevitable.
Maybe this is why I've never been interested in whether the paper I use is acid-free, or if I finish my paintings with a final coat of permanent sealer.
I'm ok with the impermanence of my art. I actually revel in it. Enjoying it for what it is right here, right now. And I love if just one single somebody revels in it during the fleeting now. Enjoying it deeply. And then loving it in different ways through my memory of what was ... as I move onto next.

oh my goodness. what are the chances.. Earlier I was reading about a book entitled.. LIFE, A USERS MANUAL.. and there was a description of a character who learned to watercolor and then what he does with the paintings is mindblowing.. and so very ties in with your post today.. I hope you get a chance to go on Wikepedia and see what Bartlebus does. Its wonderful and I hope you like it..
