#justdidit
I'm really not much into using hashtags (#). I do, however, enjoy using hashtags as a clever tool to provide more commentary about photos (in sort of an endearing and self-depracating manner) now and then.
Well, that being said, I have been using one hashtag in a true blue sort of way for a while now, which is #justdidit.
It was introduced to me by my buddy April Meeker, whose commitment to fitness inspires me so much. Of course it's a play on Nike's "Just Do It" campaign ... for people to show evidence of having heeded Nike's call through creative Instagram photos to say: "Look at me .. I Just Did It."
So every day, I look forward to posting evidence of the fact that I just did it. And I look forward to seeing April's posts as well as others in the community within Instagram who post using that hashtag ... I enjoy seeing people of all shapes and sizes, at varying levels of fitness, show how they did it. It's a great way to stay accountable, become challenged to up my game, have fun, and be creative in the way we take our photos to share. Sometimes, some of the photos are so creatively taken that it inspires me to come up with even more creative ways to take photos related to my workouts. Sometimes I post shots like this ... where I'm doing pushups in the kitchen.
And sometimes I post photos of the equipment I use ... composed in a pretty way ... like this one of my shoes, wraps, gloves, and socks.
A Special Note to the Naysayers: Yeah ... maybe it's kind of like showing off ... but is there anything we do ... whether it's art, music, cooking ... or any other thing we do where we don't enjoy the process of sharing and showing and telling and in the process, receiving feedback? I think that's just our nature. And if the process of showing and telling about our fitness efforts helps us, who are we to rain on that parade?
So if you're looking for a fun way to enhance accountability on your road to fitness and gain inspiration to document your workouts with creative photos, join me, April and the many others who are using #justdidit and post your photos. Remember: You can't post until AFTER you've worked out ... to show that you did it! I'll be looking for you!
