Painting by Heart :: A Painting Class for Beginners :: Recap of Day 1
Amazing students who worked hard to dig deep to unearth feelings that we examined and allowed to float and evolve.
We painted not by numbers, not by technical rules, but by heart.
We worked hard all morning and then broke for a little bit to refuel and then went right back to the hard work of painting.
By the end of the day, our blank white canvases had come to life ... and our feelings did evolve.
What once was "should I?" or "could I?" became "she will" and "yes I can."
Paint intermingled with collage, stitching, and lettering in multi languages.
My heart is full.
Many thanks to all the students who each entered the studio just as they were to learn, to try on styles as they enriched their feelings based on experiences and developed a clearer sense of likes and dislikes ... all on the road of continuing to find and develop each of our respective voices.
Also a personal thank you to my family and friends within the art community who have cheered me on in this process with texts, phone calls, emails, warm thoughts expressing support that I armed myself with as I entered this process humbly and thankfully as both teacher and learner. I learned so much. And I have so much yet to learn. Thank you everyone.
The second group of Painting by Heart will convene in two days: on Monday.
And then in February 2014, I will be offering Painting by Heart again in Studio CRESCENDOh in the beautiful Santora Building in the vibrant downtown Santa Ana Artist Village.
