Washi Tape Tags DIY Tutorial

I love washi tape, don't you? They aren't just to adhere things. In my opinion, they are distinctive and fun design elements. Check out these cute little tags I made.

washi tape tag tutorialTake several colors of washi tape and adhere them onto a piece of paper. (Make one or two of the tapes patterned and the others solid.) I used cold press watercolor paper. Leave a small strip of paper exposed  so that it has no washi tape on that small strip. Can you see my exposed strip? It's between the green tape and the patterned tape.

Punch the paper with a tag-shaped paper punch.

Write a sentiment on the small strip of exposed paper, using a fine-point marker. Punch a small hole at the top, thread a piece of string through the hole, and hang the tag onto your gift.

Hearts Wrapped with Thread on Spools Tutorial

Check out my latest sweet little creation.

heart spool thread tutorial
I love this project because it finally allows my stash of vintage spools of thread to be put to good use.

heart spool thread tutorial Unwind a bit of the thread from a spool, cut a small heart out of batting or felt, place the heart onto the spool and wrap the thread around the heart and spool several times.

heart spool thread tutorial Place the end of the thread onto a needle and then poke the needle through the thread on the spool to achor it in place.
heart spool thread tutorial Thread a piece of craft wire through a vintage button, twist it and then make one end into a little tangle so that it can stay at the bottom of the spool nice and snug so that the button at the top can stand in place.

Cute as a button, right?

Adhere a button onto the eraser of a pencil with just a bit of E-6000. (Make sure you wipe off any excess that oozes out of the two holes of the button.)
