Viva la Vida Garland by Melody M. Nunez

Viva la Vida Garland

by Melody M. Nuñez

{Featuring Viva la Vida stamps}

This garland project is incredibly versatile, and can be customized a million different ways. It's a great "green" craft, too. The base is made up of empty toilet paper rolls. This particular version of the garland would be great anytime, but is especially appropriate for October because of Dia de los Muertos.

Start by stamping the Frida image from the Viva la Vida stamp set onto white cardstock. Use an oval template to cut out the images. Glue five sequins along the top of each image, using Gem Tac or another clear-drying craft glue.

Cover rolls with colored tissue paper. The paper should be approximately three inches longer than the paper roll (side-to-side) and the roll should be centered, so the excess paper can be tucked in each end after rolling.

Affix the Frida images to your rolls of choice by using a piece of Terrifically Tacky Tape in the middle of the image. This allows the top and bottom to stand up.

Punch small holes in each end of all the rolls featuring Frida, making sure they're all aligned so the images will hang at the same angle. Punch holes in the other rolls, making sure the seams will be at the back. Then assemble the entire garland, using narrow ribbon or a thick white string in between each roll/segment. Attach longer hanging ribbons or threads at either end of the garland.
