Stamp top portion onto sheet music. Cut out center of flower and use spray adhesive to attach to the stamped muslin.
stamping tutorial
Layer the muslin with a piece of batting and a piece of backing fabric. Free motion stitch petals and flower center with red thread. (Free motion stitching requires a darning foot and feed dogs on your sewing machine to be lowered.) Hand embroider "love" in Korean.
sashiko tutorial
Add a piece of scrap fabric strip and attach it with sashiko stitches. Continue making sashiko stitches all along the edges of the piece and trim excess fabric.

sashiko tutorialSashiko is a form of Japanese stitching that means "little stabs." Sashiko is usually done all in one color thread, on one solid colored piece of fabric. Sashiko thread and needles can be used or other embroidery needles and floss substituded. It is beautiful in its simplicity and relaxing in its uncomplicated process.

Button Birthday Card by Melody M. Nunez

Button Birthday Card
by Melody M. Nuñez

{Featuring the Everyday Expressions & Live to Love}

This birthday card can be made with new or vintage buttons, and the sentiment can be switched out, too, depending on the occasion.  I chose buttons in varying shades of blue, but you might choose another color or colors depending on the color palette you’d like to work with.  IMG_0949

Stamp “Happy Birthday” from the Everyday Expressions stamp set onto a rectangular panel of watercolor paper.  (I used black StazOn ink.)  Stamp the square with scalloped edges from the Live to Love stamp set above and below the words, spacing the squares out evenly.

Attach six buttons to the watercolor paper with Elmer’s Glue Spots, framing each button in one of the stamped squares.  Mat the stamped watercolor rectangle with a piece of blue cardstock, and affix the entire decorative panel to a blank card with more of Elmer’s Glue Spots or another adhesive.

Mini Art Quilts by Becky Shander

Mini Art Quilts on Clothespins
by Becky Shander
{Featuring Live to Love Clear Stamps}

Soar Bird on Clothespin: Stamp square frame image onto a piece of blue scrapbook paper with Distress Ink Pad (Vintage Photo) and hand tear around the image. Type “soar” onto a piece of canvas fabric (the canvas fabric that I used is from an image transfer kit found in the office supply department) and use scissors to cut around the word. Cut a bird image (my image was previously transferred onto canvas fabric using gel medium.)  Apply glitter glue over the bird’s chest area and let dry.

Cut a piece of organic cotton batting to accommodate the stamped frame image. Use a glue stick to adhere the elements together. And then add machine sewn details under the word, “soar” as well as a hand stitched “x” with an embroidery needle and red string. To display the piece, clip a clothespin to the bottom and place it into a mini glass jar.

"X" Birdhouse on Clothespin: Stamp rectangular frame image onto paper with Distress Ink Pad (Vintage Photo) and use scissors to cut around the image (I cut off part of the stamped frame for a more interesting looking edge.) Stamp heart image onto blue scrapbook paper with Distress Ink Pad (Vintage Photo) and use scissors to cut out the heart shape. Cut out a bird image (my image was previously transferred onto canvas fabric using gel medium.) Apply glitter glue to the bird image and let dry. Cut an “X” from a magazine page.  Use a glue stick to adhere the elements together. Then use a sewing needle and silver thread to add an “x” detail. Use craft glue to adhere a button to the stamped heart and let dry. To display the piece, wrap ribbon around a clothespin and clip it to the bottom. Then place the clothespin into a mini glass jar. Fill the jar part way with buttons.

Paper Flowers by Becky Shander

Paper Flowers
by Becky Shander
{Featuring Live to Love Clear Stamps}

becky shander

Flower in Jar with Pink Accents: Stamp flower image onto paper with Distress Ink (Vintage Photo) and hand tear around the image.  Use an embroidery needle to attach pink string to the flower stem and tie the string ends together.  Partially fill a mini glass jar with pink buttons and place the stamped flower into the jar to display.

becky shander Purple Flower in Mini Glass Vial: Stamp flower image onto a piece of purple lined paper with Distress Ink Pad (Vintage Photo) and hand tear around the image. Apply sparkle glue to the flower and let dry. Tear a piece from a book page for the small center part of the flower and push a sparkle brad through it, and then through the center of the flower. Cut a piece of wire roughly 6” long.  Create a loop at one end of the wire and attach it to the back of the brad, at the back of the flower. Use round nose jewelry pliers to curl the other end of the wire for a more interesting design.

Type “grow” onto paper and create a tag. Use a small hole punch through the tag and use this hole to attach the tag to the wire flower stem with string.  Fill the mini glass vial with mica flakes. Place the wire stem into the glass vial to display.

Bloom Canvas by Becky Shander

Bloom Canvas with Paper Flower
by Becky Shander
{Featuring Live to Love Clear Stamps}

Becky Shander

Prep a 4" x 4" canvas by painting the front and sides with a sponge brush and Titan Buff (Golden) acrylic paint and let dry. Use craft glue to adhere glitter to the edges of the canvas and let dry. Then use a sponge brush to apply Titan Buff paint very lightly over the glitter and let dry. Apply some black oil pastel around the edges of the canvas and gently rub it in using your fingertips (you can also use a baby wipe to smear in some of the oil pastel).

Stamp the flower image onto a piece of an antique letter using Distress Ink Pad (Vintage Photo,) and hand tear around the image. Apply glitter glue to the flower and let dry. Use the same ink to stamp the label image onto a piece of scrapbook paper, and then use scissors to cut and/or hand tear around the image. To assemble the flower, cut a piece of 24 gauge wire (roughly 7” long) and use round nose jewelry pliers to curl one end of the wire. Then attach the other end of the wire to the back of the flower using a sparkly brad.

Becky Shander Use a pencil to add hand drawn details to the canvas and paper elements.  Type “bloom” onto a piece of kraft paper and cut around this word to create a label. Use craft glue to adhere a piece of corrugated scrapbook paper to the canvas. Then adhere the stamped label on top. To attach the flower wire to the stamped label, apply craft glue to the back of the label and place the wire behind and let dry. Adhere buttons to the canvas with craft glue. Add glitter glue over the word, “bloom.”
